| Locations: Blue and Red players can catch level-46 Hypnos in the Unknown Dungeon (at the end of the game), but Yellow players have to do it the old-fashioned way: raise Drowzee to level 26 and higher and evolve it. | |||||||||

| Tips: Like Drowzee, Hypno is a good alternative to the Abra-Alakazam lineage during early parts of the games. Both have excellent HP and Special stats, with (for a Psychic type) decent Defense. Attack and Speed stats are a different story, though. For comparison's sake, consider that a low-level Abra is twice as fast as a low-level Drowzee -- so remember that when choosing your favorite Psychic. I personally prefer Speed for Psychic Pokemon since it's all about getting a quick Hypnosis or Confusion hit in before the opponent can respond. Still, Drowzee and Hypno are definitely worth your while, especially at lower levels. Whereas Abra doesn't learn any good attacks early on, Drowzee learns Hypnosis, Disable and Confusion even before it has hit level 20. And even the evolved Hypno learns Psychic a level earlier than its Kadabra counterpart (though you may want Drowzee to learn Psychic before you evolve it). Don't bother with physical attacks like Pound and Head Butt. A good combination of moves would be Hypnosis, Confusion, Poison Gas and -- of course -- Psychic. If you've got TMs to waste, you can also replace Confusion later on with the likes of Seismic Toss, Dream Eater or Thunder Wave. Psychic Pokemon are your best choice against Fighting and Poison Pokemon, but because they have few gaps in their defense, they can also act as a wildcard of sorts against all kinds of other types. When battling any Psychic type, remember that their biggest weakness is to Bug Pokemon. A move like Pin Missile does wonders, but any other non-Fighting moves work well, too. And remember, never send a Fighting or a Poison (or Ghost) Pokemon into battle with a Psychic. Luckily for Psychic Pokemon, few Bugs actually know any decent Bug techniques -- but if you're stuck using a Psychic type against a powerful Bug, remember that moves like Seismic Toss cause damage regardless of type. | |||||||||

| Offense Advantage: Fighting, Poison Disadvantage: Psychic | Defense Advantage: Ghost, Fighting, Psychic Disadvantage: Bug | ||||||||
| Origin: Hypno's name doesn't really need any further explanation. Hypno hypnotizes its opponents. That's it. | |||||||||
